Protec Security
Prowler Proof Protec has passed every security test with flying colours. The Australian Standards test consists of six separate tests that have to be passed in succession by the same test sample. No problem for Protec. Have a look at the test results below – it starts with a 40 kg sand bag smashing into a Protec security screen at 200 joules of force. Not once, but five times…

Dynamic impact test
The Test
The dynamic impact test is designed to simulate an intruder trying to kick through a security screen. The test is performed with a bag full of lead shot and sand, weighing more than 40 kg. The bag is smashed into the screen with a force of either 100 (SL100) or 200 (SL200) joules. The test is repeated 5 times.
The Result
Passed. Protec passed at Security Level 200 (SL200). In fact, the test posed little challenge for Protec perforated aluminium security screen doors and windows.
Your Benefit
A burglar trying to kick his way past a Protec security screen will be wasting his time. The 1.7 mm thick perforated aluminium sheet just won’t give in.

Pull test
The Test
Imagine an intruder trying to pull out your security screen…that’s what the pull test is all about. The security door or window must be able to withstand pulling forces of up to 2 kN (200 kg) for 20 seconds at various positions.
The Result
Passed. The test is over before it begins. Protec’s mesh is so fine that there is nothing to grab – the test lab has nowhere to pull. Even after the dynamic impact test and the jemmy test, there is no gap between mesh and frame.
Your Benefit
If the test lab can’t find anywhere to pull, what chance does a potential intruder have? You are safe behind a Protec security door or window.

Knife shear test
The Test
The knife shear test simulates a knife attack on your security screen. A heavy duty trimming knife is dragged along a 250 mm line with a force of 150 N (15 kg) vertically and up to 350 N (35 kg) horizontally. The test is repeated 3 times – each time with a new blade – along the same line.
The Result
Passed. To pass this Australian Standards test, continuous penetration of less than 150 mm is required. The knife shear test hardly leaves a scratch in a Protec security door or window screen.
Your Benefit
Even a strong burglar with a heavy duty trimming knife and 3 fresh blades won’t stand a chance of getting past a Protec security door or window.

Jemmy test
The Test
The jemmy test is designed to simulate an intruder using a lever to get past the security door or window. The test is performed with a large screwdriver at all locking, hinging and fixing points. The force applied is up to 450 N (45 kg) for 20 seconds – way beyond the capability of most intruders.
The Result
Passed. All Protec security products passed the test easily – each and every locking and hinging point was secure after the test.
Your Benefit
Even armed with a large screwdriver or similar, potential intruders won’t get past a Protec security door or window screen.

Probe test
The Test
The probe test simulates an intruder having created a gap and trying to get their hand inside to unlock. A deflecting force of 1.5 kN (150 kg) is applied to each opposite side of the opening to increase the space enough to get a hand through.
The Result
Passed. This test simply can’t be performed on a Protec security door or window. The tiny holes in the solid aluminium sheet are far smaller than the test requirement of a 213 mm diameter probe.
Your Benefit
The perforated aluminium sheet in a Protec security door or window won’t allow an intruder to get his hand inside to unlock a door or a window.

Corrosion test
The Test
The Neutral Salt Spray Test requires the product to survive a 240hrs neutral salt spray test. This test is an accelerated corrosion process that takes place in an enclosed chamber. The spray is saltier than sea water and the temperature is maintained at +35º C with almost 100% humidity.
The Result
Passed. Even when the Neutral Salt Spray Test went well beyond the minimum 240 hours required – lasting 1,000 hours in total – there was still no visible corrosion on the Prowler Proof product.
Your Benefit
Prowler Proof security screens are among the most corrosion-resistant on the market. With proper care, they will remain looking as good as new for years to come.

Protec Bushfire Screens
Protec screens are suitable for bushfire prone areas. With perforated aluminium mesh, Protec screens are approved up to Bushfire Attack Level 29 (BAL 29). The Australian Standard for construction of homes in bushfire prone zones (AS 3959) simply states that openable windows must be screened with corrosion-resistant steel, bronze or aluminium mesh with an opening of less than 2 mm x 2 mm. You can rely on Prowler Proof Protec designs – even in a bushfire.
Protec Energy & UV light
It goes without saying that Protec’s perforated aluminium sheet will let plenty of fresh air and daylight in. But it does more than that. Protec security doors and windows will also help keep solar heat and UV light out during summer – and reduce heat loss come winter. Protec is one of very few security screens that has been WERS tested…

Window Energy Rating Scheme (WERS)
The Test
Very few Australian security screens have been WERS tested. Prowler Proof Protec and ForceField® are two of the rare exceptions.
The Result
Depending on application, Protec reduced solar heat gain and UV light by up to 62% (WERS rating 4.5 stars). Reduced heat loss was up to 18%, resulting in a 2.5 star WERS rating.
Your Benefit
Prowler Proof Protec security screens will not only help you keep cool in summer, they will also help you stay warm during winter.

Protec Corrosion
Whenever two different metals interact there’s a risk of corrosion. So the fact that Prowler Proof is welded instead of being held together by screws or rivets makes it more corrosion-resistant than other security screens. Protec is one of very few complete security screens that has passed the 1,000 hour neutral salt spray test – most manufacturers only test the mesh. But we took it a step further. As one of only two complete security screens on the market – Prowler Proof ForceField® is the other – Protec has also passed the 1,000 hour acetic acid salt spray test. With a pH similar to vinegar, acetic acid salt spray is 10,000 times more acidic than neutral salt spray.

Acetic acid salt spray test (AS 2331.3.2)
The Test
The 1,000 hour acetic acid salt spray test is pure torture for a security screen. Acetic acid salt spray is not only saltier than sea water, it’s also 10,000 times more acidic. The test takes place in an enclosed chamber at a temperature of +35ºC with almost 100% humidity.
The Result
Passed. Protec is one of only two complete security screens on the Australian market to pass the acetic acid salt spray test. Prowler Proof ForceField® is the other.
Your Benefit
If you live in a coastal area or near industrial areas, corrosion is your security screen’s worst enemy. Prowler Proof is your safe choice. No other brand of security screen has passed the 1,000 hour acetic acid salt spray test. No other brand is covered by a 10 year replacement warranty.

Neutral salt spray test (AS 2331.3.1)
The Test
Protec has been tested to the Australian Standard 2331 which requires the product to survive a 1,000 hour neutral salt spray test. This test is an accelerated corrosion process that takes place in an enclosed chamber. The spray is saltier than sea water and the temperature is maintained at +35º C with almost 100% humidity.
The Result
Passed. Protec is one of very few complete security screens that have passed the test – most manufacturers only test the mesh. Protec’s perforated aluminium mesh has actually survived a 10,000 hour salt spray test.
Your Benefit
Prowler Proof is the most corrosion-resistant security screen on the market. Quite simply because it is welded instead of being held together by screws or rivets. Whenever two different metals interact there’s a risk of corrosion.

Protec Insect Protection
Prowler Proof Protec is a security screen and insect screen in one. With a diameter of just 2.0mm, the holes in the perforated aluminium sheet are big enough to see through but too small to get through – even for mosquitoes. Only fresh air and daylight gets past Protec.
Protec Access Control
Prowler Proof Protec allows unassisted access for pets or people, through the addition of optional access control accessories, such as keying locks alike, pet doors for family pets and solid panels for easier wheelchair accessibility.
Protec Fall Prevention
The National Construction Code (NCC) (BCA 2013) requires that window openings be either restricted or screened, in certain circumstances, to prevent children falling. Screens that resist an outward horizontal action of 250 N meet the code and mean that window restrictors, that prevent the window being open more than 125mm, can be removed. Screens that have been tested and passed AS5039/5040 are deemed to comply with NCC requirements. Barrier screens must either be type tested in a NATA certified testing facility, or tested onsite by the installer.

We called the installer, not very hopeful of a good outcome, because the doors were 5 years old, and we live near the beach.
We had the doors serviced and cleaned, but the deterioration was still evident.
I decided to contact Prowler Proof to discuss our issue, and within 24 hours, not only had a response … but spoke to Nanette, who advised us, that they would make us a brand new set of doors, and have them installed within a few weeks.
I was blown away with the speed of their response, and the positive reaction from their customer service team.
This company deserves a rating of 5 stars for not only a great product, but a perfect example of great customer, and after sales service. Thank you Prowler Proof and Nanette.
