Hinge security door

The Prowler Proof Hinged Security Doors are the ultimate in security screen protection

Every hinged security door is made to the standard that gets tested — because it’s made in the same factory

Every Prowler Proof hinged security door is manufactured in our fully automated factory in Banyo, Queensland, using the same consistent process for every unit — so the door delivered to your home is built to the identical standard as the screens that undergo independent testing, not a lower-cost variant. Every Prowler Proof hinged security door has passed the Australian Standard for security screens (AS 5039), along with a range of additional performance testing beyond what’s required.

It’s the details you don’t see that make a hinged security door look like it belongs

High-strength welded corners and our exclusive H.I.T.® (Hidden Installation Technology) concealed fixing extrusion mean every Prowler Proof hinged security door sits flush in the frame, with no visible screws or brackets to give away that it was added after the home was built. Combined with a range of optional accessories, this construction runs across our entire range — from basic flyscreens through to full hinge security doors — so whichever level of protection you choose, it can be manufactured to match your home exactly.

Hinged Door Applications

Every Prowler Proof hinged security door is built with our unique welded corners, so there’s no crimped joint to work loose over time. Choose the infill to suit your lifestyle: ForceField for maximum airflow and visibility, Protec for added privacy without losing airflow, or Diamond for economical security. Hinges mount on either side of the door jamb, and Prowler Proof hinged security doors suit both single and french door applications. The choice is yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hinged security door and how is it different from a standard hinged flyscreen door?

A hinged security door mounts on hinges to one side of the door jamb, the same as a standard flyscreen door — but that’s where the similarity ends. A standard flyscreen relies on a single latch and a crimped or riveted frame that works loose over time. A Prowler Proof hinged security door is built with toughened welded corners and secured with a Lockwood 8654 triple-point lock as standard, and the infill itself is tested to AS 5039, the Australian Standard for security screens — so there’s no single weak point to force.

Is a hinged security door strong enough for a main entry door?

Yes. Every Prowler Proof hinged security door passes AS 5039 along with additional performance testing beyond what the standard requires, and it’s manufactured to the same specification whether it’s fitted to a front entry, a back door, or a side access door.

Can a hinged security door be custom made for wide doors or french door openings?

Yes. A certified local dealer measures your doorway on-site and manufactures the door to that exact opening rather than supplying a standard size, so it suits single door and french door (double) configurations equally. The measure and quote is obligation-free.

What infill should I choose for a hinged security door — ForceField, Protec, or Diamond?

It depends on what you want from the opening. ForceField is a 316 marine-grade stainless steel mesh that sits almost invisibly in the frame, giving the best airflow and the clearest view through. Protec is a perforated aluminium sheet — more privacy than a fine mesh while still letting air through, and well suited to coastal locations where salt-air corrosion is a concern. Diamond comes in Welded, with the grille welded in and fitted with gauze mesh, or SnapLock, with a black grille and coloured frame. These are the more economical options. All are available on the hinge door range.

Will a hinged security door affect airflow or block my view?

Not with the right infill. ForceField is designed specifically to maximise both airflow and visibility — it’s the option to choose if an unobstructed view matters most. Protec trades a little visibility for added privacy and durability but still allows airflow. Diamond has an open grille pattern rather than a fine mesh, so sightlines differ again. None of the three seal the opening the way a solid door does.

How much does a Prowler Proof hinged security door cost?

There’s no fixed online price, because every door is custom-made to your opening size, chosen infill, and powder coat colour rather than sold as a standard unit. A certified local dealer provides an obligation-free measure and quote so the price reflects your specific doorway.

How long does it take to get a hinged security door made and installed?

Because every Prowler Proof security door is manufactured in our own automated factory in Banyo, Queensland and fitted by a certified local dealer, hinged security doors are made and installed without the long wait times that can come with alternative brands.

We were most impressed with the service we received from Prowlerproof and their local agent, Geelong Security Doors.
We had a minor issue with a Prowlerproof scurity door in a home we purchased that was several years old and Prowlerproof arranged for their agent to rectify the problem at no cost. The communications and the follow-up were prompt and efficient which we found very refreshing in this day and age. A business I am happy to recommend.

Outstanding customer service and genuine accountability.

I recently went through a warranty claim for existing Prowler Proof security doors. From the moment the job number was located, Nanette handled the matter professionally and proactively. She clarified warranty coverage, coordinated with the dealer, and ensured replacement doors were manufactured and installed properly.

What stood out was her persistence and ownership of the process — particularly when there was confusion at the dealer level. She stepped in, clarified the correct pathway, and saw the matter through to completion.

The new doors have now been installed and I’m extremely happy with the result.

It’s refreshing to deal with a company that stands behind its product and supports its customers properly. Highly recommended.
