Security Without Compromise in Fig Tree Pocket
Located on an elevated block overlooking the Brisbane River, this family home was designed to make the most of its outlook, natural light and cooling breezes. However, the property’s hillside position and sloping corner block meant traditional fencing was not a practical security option.
The homeowners wanted a genuine physical barrier to help protect their home in the event of a break-in, without relying only on cameras or an alarm system. At the same time, it was important that any security solution preserved the home’s open feel, views and airflow. This was particularly crucial around the large corner stacking door system that opened directly onto the outlook.
Matthew from My Security Company, a Brisbane-based security screen installer, recommended Prowler Proof ForceField® security screens throughout the home. ForceField® was selected for its strength, clean appearance and ability to secure large openings without the need for mid-rails, allowing the homeowners to maintain uninterrupted views across the river.
A ForceField® hinged window security screen was also installed in the garage area to protect a vulnerable side glass panel while still allowing easy access for cleaning. To further strengthen the home’s layered security, a security screen was installed between the garage and the internal living areas, helping to protect another potential entry point.
For Matthew, ForceField® was the ideal fit for this project because it delivered maximum security while supporting the homeowners’ lifestyle needs. Its welded construction, tested performance and Australian Standards compliance gave the family confidence that their vulnerable entry points were properly protected. Each product also included clear compliance labelling, providing additional peace of mind.
The timing of the installation proved especially important. Shortly after the ground-level security screens were installed, a neighbouring property experienced a break-in where burglars accessed the garage and stole a car. This reinforced the homeowners’ decision to prioritise the remaining security screens and secure less obvious areas of the home, including the garage.
The result is a home that feels open, light and breezy while now benefiting from strong, visible security. As a young family, the homeowners were extremely happy with the outcome and, most importantly, the peace of mind the installation provided.
Matthew’s advice to other homeowners is to think beyond the obvious doors and windows when planning home security. Garages, laundries and hidden side entries are often weak points that can be overlooked. With Prowler Proof products, homeowners do not need to choose between security, airflow and views — they can have all three.
