Secure Screen Doors: Stronger Than a Standard Flyscreen

A welded Prowler Proof secure screen door looks better!

A “screen door” and a secure screen door aren’t automatically the same thing — a lot of what’s sold as a screen door is really just a flyscreen with a lock added, held together with screws or crimped joints that give way under pressure. Prowler Proof secure screen doors are built differently from the ground up: toughened welded corners instead of crimped or riveted joints, and an infill independently tested to AS 5039, the Australian Standard for security screens. It’s the difference between a door that just looks secure and one that’s actually been proven to be.

Every Prowler Proof secure screen door is manufactured in our fully automated factory in Banyo, Queensland, so the door delivered to your home is built to the identical standard as the doors that undergo independent testing — not a lower-cost variant. Our exclusive H.I.T.® concealed-fix hardware keeps every fastener hidden and locked out of reach, so there’s nothing exposed for someone to tamper with from outside. We’re also regularly audited by the National Security Screen Association to keep that manufacturing standard consistent door after door.

Our Range

Prowler Proof ForceField fixed window security screens and sliding security doors at Brookfield

ForceField®️

316 marine-grade stainless steel mesh, woven fine enough to virtually disappear against your existing door and window frames, while still standing up to genuine forced-entry testing.

Protec

A single sheet of perforated aluminium rather than a woven mesh — Protec trades a little visibility for extra rigidity and holds up particularly well against coastal salt air.

Prowler Proof ForceField security screens and Guardian fall prevention window screens project at Mango Hill Queensland

Guardian®️

Built to resist a child leaning or pushing against it, Guardian® is fitted to window openings rather than doors, letting upper-storey windows stay open without becoming a fall risk.

Diamond security screens banner

Diamond

A welded grille design that keeps the same tested security standard as the rest of the range at a more accessible price, with custom colour-matched frames.

Prowler Proof Heritage hinge screen door

Heritage

Cast-panel doors built for character and period detail rather than a security rating. Note — Heritage is a barrier door, not a compliant secure screen door; see Security Doors if forced-entry protection is what you need.

Prowler Proof Diamond security screen project at Ascot Queensland

Insect Screens

Still built with welded corners rather than the crimped joints of a typical flyscreen, so it won’t sag or gap over time — but for pest control, not security. Note — not a compliant secure screen door.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a screen door “secure” rather than just a flyscreen with a lock?

Construction and testing. A flyscreen with a lock added is still only as strong as its crimped or riveted joints. A genuine secure screen door has toughened welded corners and an infill tested against AS 5039 for forced entry, corrosion, impact and more — the lock is only one part of it.

Are all Prowler Proof screen doors secure screen doors?

No — and we’re upfront about which ones aren’t. ForceField, Protec and Diamond are AS 5039-tested secure screen doors. Heritage and Insect-only doors share the same welded corners but aren’t security-rated, and we label them as such rather than blur the line.

Can a secure screen door be fitted to my existing door frame?

Yes. A certified local Prowler Proof dealer measures your existing opening on-site and manufactures the door to fit, whether it’s a single hinge door, a French door pair, or a wide sliding opening.

How can I check a secure screen door I’ve been quoted is actually compliant?

Look for the Compliance Label. A genuine secure screen door carries a Manufacturing Compliance Label confirming it passed AS 5039 testing, and an Installation Compliance Label from whoever fits it. No label means it hasn’t been proven to meet the standard, whatever it’s called in the quote.
